I am a consultant cardiologist based on the South Coast with special interest in Heart Failure diagnosis & management and complex cardiac device implantation.
I also see and treat a whole range of cardiology conditions which may cause symptoms of breathlessness, chest pain, leg swelling, tiredness, dizziness & blackouts, palpitations. I treat conditions such as heart failure, high blood pressure, angina, and heart rhythm problems such as atrial fibrillation (AF).
I can offer echocardiograms, heart ECG monitors and other diagnostics, often on the same day as your consultation.
Patient focused care is my priority to understand your symptoms better. I am able to offer a wide range of tests to help answer your health questions, to look for the right diagnosis. This allows me to work with you to formulate effective treatment plans.

Dr Raj Chahal, Heart Failure and Pacing Devices Specialist.
Dr Chahal graduated in 2006 from the University of Liverpool Medical School before training in general cardiology the North West of England. He gained sub-speciality training and experience in heart failure management and complex device implantation at Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital and Wythenshawe Hospital. After two decades away from the South Coast he returned for a heart failure fellowship post at the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth before being appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
Dr Chahal has a passion for patient-centred high-quality care and prides himself on his communication with his patients. He sees patients with general cardiology problems such as breathlessness, chest pains, palpitations, dizziness & black-outs as well as managing high blood pressure and high cholesterol/lipid levels. He specialises in seeing patient with possible and confirmed heart failure with expert understanding of the use of the latest evidenced based medicines to help patients. He also specialises in the implant and follow up of pacemakers, CRT devices as well as defibrillators.
My goal is to improve and maintain your overall health and to empower you with an understanding of your condition and wellness plan.
There is no such thing as one-size-fits-all cure, so don‘t I use a one-size-fits-all approach to your diagnosis.
I offer a variety of preventative care services such as annual physical exams, medication reviews, and health monitoring.
I offer clinical assessment and diagnostics for new suspected heart failure and other common cardiology issues.
